Switzerland moves between landscapes faster than almost any other country — the lowland lake shores, the pre-Alpine foothills and the high glacier country are all within an hour of each other, and the infrastructure to reach them is the best in the world. Eight days is enough time to cover the country’s main register: two mountain excursions, a panoramic train journey, the car-free Matterhorn village of Zermatt, the valley of 72 waterfalls at Lauterbrunnen, and the UNESCO Old Town of Bern. The route opens in Zurich and moves southwest to Lucerne for the Pilatus Mountain cable car excursion on Day 2 — 2,128 metres above the lake, with a panorama of 73 Alpine peaks on a clear day. Day 3 takes the train from Tasch into Zermatt, the car-free village at the base of the Matterhorn, before the coach continues to Montreux on Lake Geneva. Day 4 is the GoldenPass Panoramic Train from Montreux to Zweisimmen — one of the most scenic rail journeys in Europe, running through vineyard terraces and Alpine meadows before descending to the Bernese Oberland. Day 5 covers the Lauterbrunnen valley, Grindelwald and Iseltwald — the latter the lakeside village on Brienz made famous by the Korean drama Crash Landing on You. Day 6 moves to Gruyères (the medieval walled town in the cheese region, not just the cheese) and Bern. Day 7 closes the mountain sequence with the Titlis excursion from Engelberg — the 360° Rotair revolving gondola to 3,020 metres, the glacier cave, and year-round snow — before the coach returns to Zurich for the final night. This is a ground-only tour. Flights are arranged independently. Halal meals are included at every included dinner. This tour is for you if you want Switzerland’s peaks, trains and old towns covered properly in a single week.

Day-by-Day
You arrive at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and a private or shared transfer brings you to the hotel. Check-in from 14:00. Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city and an efficient base for the first night — the old town and the lake are walkable from the centre if you arrive with daylight and energy.

Note on flights — Flights are not included. Arrange your own arrival and departure into Zurich (ZRH). Both the start and end of this tour are in Zurich.
